Two Door Cinema Club at Harrah’s SoCal

Initially I was surprised to hear that Two Door Cinema Club was playing at a casino; however, it somehow suited the aesthetic surrounding this year’s release Gameshow. Door to door, anticipation was strong. Many fans had made the trek all the way out to Valley Center to see TDCC in their newest form. With a drastic shift in sound on Gameshow, an additional touring guitarist, and new style from front man Alex Trimble, the dedicated fan base was fervent for the show to start.

Supporting them on this leg of tour was BROODS. Promptly hitting the stage, energy flowed throughout their set. The audience quickly took a liking to the New Zealand electropop duo.

Saturday night’s performance was the final stop of TDCC’s 2016 tour. There was a good balance of classic and new songs. Much to fans’ delight, a good portion of their setlist comprised of songs from their debut Tourist History. Although they didn’t perform “Good Morning” (a favorite of mine off their latest), “Lavender” was an impressive track live. Title track “Gameshow” surged with energy that echoed throughout the venue.
