Beirut at the Hollywood Palladium

Equal parts dreamy and grand, Beirut’s second night at the Hollywood Palladium was mesmerizing and surprisingly full of dancing. There was no lull in the crowd even when the brass-led band performed their slower, more dramatic tracks such as “The Rip Tide.” Which, if anything, is a true testament to just how (literally) moving Beirut’s music is.

Last time I saw Beirut was at the Fonda Theater back in 2013. Although its been two years, their live presence is still as effervescent as ever. While I was elated to hear old favorites such as MNWTPFM, “The Shrew,” and “In the Mausoleum” (a nice surprise during the encore), I was particularly excited to hear new songs “Perth” and title track “No No No.”
